DIY | Lace it up

I have this 2 yards to lace sitting on top of my sewing machine since forever. I admit, I really don’t know what to do with it. (Actually, I planned to dyeing it just because its too white, but I’m not really sure what colour I want it to be.) Decisions, decisions!!

Looking at it this morning, I decided I would do another DIY gown. I don’t really have anywhere to wear a gown to, but I just really find it beautiful in photographs. Don’t you?

Underneath is just a black jersey v-neck dress I bought a couple of years ago. I’ve never really worn it anywhere just because of the very revealing neckline, but adding this lace on top makes me want to have a reason to wear it outside of my room!

All Those Skirts

Upon shoveling tons of clothes out of my closet, I have found out that I do have tons of skirts. I haven’t worn some of them in a while and so I thought it would be a nice idea to wear them all at once! (Yes, I have a weird definition of ‘nice idea’) So my ‘nice idea’ is to make yet another DIY gown using some of my favorite skirts.

Please forgive me for the slouchy-trying-too-hard-couture-poses. My back has been killing me for the past two days and that is the only comfortable pose that I can do.

It was a scorching hot day and I was wearing a total of 5 skirts. The 3 skirts are worn underneath to give that semi-petticoat effect. The lace skirt is still pure looove! If I die, please let me be buried with it.

DIY | 10-minute gown

When I was a kid I remember playing with my bedsheets, pretending it was a gown and I’m on my way to a party. A few years after, I realised, I do need gowns to go to some parties. The problem is, I don’t really want to spend so much on something that I would probably wear only once in my life. (Imagine wearing the same gown over and over again *gasp*) So I decided to make a DIY gown that wouldn’t cost me much money and time to make. And when the party is done, I could use it for something else. Believe me or not, I really did this gown for only ten minutes… or a little under that.

What you need:

The skirt and bolero is totally optional, but I suggest you to really have something under this DIY gown to prevent any unwanted exposure.

Yes, you only need one (1) safety pin. This is used on the silk around the chest area just to fit it into place. Then I put on the belt and do random rouching on the top part of the gown. Sorry, I’m not really good with explaining how things are done, so maybe these pictures will help.

Too lazy to iron the cloth! Haha!

For those who are wondering if this gown can hold up for several hours, I believe it can! I was wearing this gown for a couple of minutes inside my room while running and posing and chasing my dog because it keeps on chasing the bottom part of the gown.
